    Nace en Camagüey, Cuba, en 1962. Poeta, videoasta y fotógrafo. Ha publicado los libros de poesía Aunar lo imprevisible, 1994; Por el ojo del tiempo, 1997,  Friso de la vida, 2000 y El cuaderno de las sombras, 2004. Textos suyos han aparecido en antologías poéticas realizadas dentro y fuera del país, así como en publicaciones periódicas. Reseñas críticas sobre su obra poética pueden encontrarse, en La Gaceta de Cuba y El Caimán Barbudo.

    Es autor de más de quince documentales, entre los que pueden destacarse Amigos del mal y Buscando a Celine Dion, Premio Luces de la Ciudad de la Muestra Audiovisual El Almacén de la Imagen, 1995; El viaje, Premio Caracol de la UNEAC, 1996;  Vidas retiradas o Tacones lejanos, 1997;  Tocando al viento, 1998; Caidije, 2000 (seleccionado para participar en la Primera Muestra de Cine Joven del ICAIC); y La tejedora: su extensa realidad, Gran Premio del Festival Nacional de Tele Centros, Premio Vitral del Movimiento Nacional de Vídeo y Premio Caracol de la UNEAC, 2001. Considerada por la critica cinematográfica entre las obras más significativas del año 2001.

    Su documental Despertando a Quan Tri mereció el Gran Premio del Festival Nacional de Telecentros, Tercer Premio en Festival Internacional de Documentales Santiago Álvarez in Memoriam 2005, y Premio Pobreza Zero del Festival Internacional del Cine Pobre de Gibara. Ha realizado exposiciones de fotografía en Cuba, Bélgica e Italia. Su obra fotográfica ha sido reseñada en la revista El mar y la montaña de Guantánamo, en Schwarzweiss, de Alemania y por TV Limburgo de Bélgica. Labora en Televisión Camagüey como director de programas hace más de quince años. Ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos a su labor artística. Ostenta la Distinción por la Cultura Nacional.  Es miembro de la UNEAC y Miembro de Honor de la Asociación Hermanos Saíz.




    Gustavo Pérez Fernández , (1962-) was born in Camagüey, Cuba. He is a poet,  video filmmaker and photographer. He has published the poetry books Aunar lo imprevisible 1994; Por el ojo del tiempo, 1997, Friso de la vida, 2000 and El cuaderno de las sombras, 2004. His texts have appeared in poetic anthologies published inside and outside the country, as well as in periodical publications.     His documentary Despertando a Quan Tri deserved the Grand Prize of the National Festival of Telecentros, Third Prize in the International Documentary Festival Santiago Álvarez in Memoriam 2005, and the Poverty Zero award of the International Festival of Low Budget Cinema of Gibara. He has made photography exhibitions in Cuba, Belgium and Italy. Their photographic work has been pointed out in the magazine El mar y la montaña of Guantánamo, in the Schwarzweiss magazine of Germany and for TV Limburgo of Belgium. He has worked for more than fifteen years in Television Camagüey like director of programs. He has received numerous recognitions to his artistic work. He was awarded the Distinction for the National Culture.  He is member of the UNEAC and Member of Honor of the Association Hermanos Saíz.
