    Andarilho cuenta la historia de tres vagabundos solitarios que recorren diversas rutas en distintas calles del Nordeste de Minas Gerais. El filme establece una relación entre el acto de caminar y pensar, mostrando la vida como un lugar de tránsito.

    The second installment in a planned nonfiction trilogy by Brazilian director Cao Guimaraes that meditates on the subject of loneliness (the successor to his 2004 Soul of the Bone), the documentary Drifter finds Guimaraes undertaking a journey to the state of Minas Gerais in northeastern Brazil, where he and his small crew and encounter three travelers on federal roads. Paulão, Valdemar and Nercino are eminently lonely and disenfranchised - wandering around aimlessly, seemingly without purpose, their intelligence and cognizance uncertain.

     Other information: As Guimaraes shoots candid, unrehearsed footage of his three subjects, their shared laconic qualities become overtly apparent, but occasional breaks in the silence - in which the men expostulate on their inherent values, quirky little experiences from their past, their animistic spiritual beliefs and various other disparate subjects - provide invaluable insights into each wanderer. As might be expected, the film as a whole waxes extremely understated and subdued, crafted by a filmmaker who resists overt explanation or interpretation.
