Inicia su carrera en el cine a través de trabajos universitarios y pequeños proyectos entre amigos, hasta que dirige Almas de la media noche (2002), largometraje que cuenta la historia de un grupo de jóvenes, seis estudiantes de periodismo que experimentan un pequeño viaje que les cambiará la vida para siempre. La película explora el tema de la vida después de la muerte, tocando algunas creencias religiosas, y al final deja un mensaje para la juventud. El filme consiguió un éxito significativo de público en Honduras y El Salvador.
Su segundo largometraje, titulado El Xendra (2004), es un thriller protagonizado por un arqueólogo (Sebastián) que investiga ciertos hallazgos en las Ruinas de Copán y termina descubriendo un pasadizo extraño hacia otras dimensiones extraterrenales.
Es de significar que en este proyecto Fanconi unió talentos de diferentes países de la región: El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica y Guatemala.
He began his career as a filmmaker with university projects and small plans with friends until 2002 when he directed Almas de la media noche (2002), feature film that narrates the story of a group of six young students of journalism who make a brief trip that will change their lives forever. The film explores the theme of life after death, it tackles some religious believes and its ending is meant as a message for the youth. It achieved significant box-office success in Honduras and El Salvador.
His second feature film, El Xendra (2004), is a thriller in which the leading character is an archaeologist, (Sebastián) who is investigating certain findings in the Copán Ruins and ends up discovering a strange passage towards extraterrestrial dimensions.
The Xendras are dimensional gates able to transport human beings in space and time and make them transcend to other unknown worlds and places.
It is significant that in this project Fanconi gathered the talents of different countries of the region: El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
