    (Argentina, 1971)



    Cineasta brasileño nacido en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Egresado de Dirección cinematográfica en la Universidad del Cine, realizó también estudios de Bellas Artes, actuación, fotografía y participó en diferentes talleres de guión. Se ha desempeñado como camarógrafo y director de fotografía en cinco largometrajes,y en numerosos vídeo clips y comerciales. Entre sus cortometrajes figuran: Legolás (1993), Espectros (1995) y Olvidos locura y amor (2006).

    Sólo por hoy (2001) es su ópera prima, cuyo guión fue semifinalista en el concurso del Sundance. Es una historia en la que exploró dramas y sueños insatisfechos de un grupo de jóvenes.

    Su más reciente realización, El otro (2006), película protagonizada por Julio Chávez, se basa en el tiempo, el cuerpo y la percepción para narrar el viaje de transformación interior de un hombre que juega a ser otro. Esta cinta obtuvo los premios del público y especial del jurado en el Festival de Friburgo y el Gran Premio del Jurado y el Oso de Plata al mejor actor en el Festival de Berlín, ambos eventos en sus ediciones de 2007.




    Ariel Rotter (1971-) is a Brazilian filmmaker born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Rotter graduated in Film Direction at the Universidad del Cine, and also finished studies of fine arts, acting, photography and participated in different script workshops. He has worked as cameraman and director of photography in five films, and many music videos and commercials. Some of his short films Legolás (1993), Espectros (1995) and Olvidos locura y amor (2006).

    Sólo por hoy (2001) was his first feature film, whith a script that was a semifinalist in the Sundance contest of this category. It is a story that explores the dramas and unfulfilled dreams of a group of young people.

    His feature film, El otro (2006), starring Julio Chavez, is based on the time, the body and the perception to narrate the journey of inner transformation of a man playing to be someone else. This film won the Audience Award and Special Jury Prize at the Festival of Fribourg, and the Grand Jury Prize and the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin Film Festival, both in the 2007 editions.
